Can we talk about Vermont? Not only is it gorgeous and full of exciting things to do in every season. This state is at the forefront of a farm-to-table revolution. Farmers, artisan cheese makers, brewers, wine makers, composters, organic seed producers, managers of CSAs, distributors, resort and restaurant owners—students at NECI become part of a growing community of food activists changing the way food tastes; the way it is grown, produced, and distributed.
Vermont is where you learn the true value of the best ingredients. Tradition and scale—small farms and artisanal producers—contribute to a food philosophy that honors creativity and sustainability. Using seasonal foods, creating artisanal foods, and cooking from scratch have been practiced here for generations, and form an important part of the Vermont economy. There’s no such thing as homogenous or generic in Vermont.
This small but bustling town offers a fun downtown scene and boasts a wide variety of locally owned establishments including eateries and pubs, independent bookstores, boutiques, intimate theaters, sporting events, and other entertainment options within walking distance of campus. Central Vermont offers a wide range of accommodations for prospective students and their families from established hotels to beautiful bed and breakfasts for your stay during your visit to NECI!
Have we mentioned that Vermont is also stunningly beautiful? Pick your season and your favorite way to relax. You name it, we’ve got it: Skiing, kayaking, hiking, canoeing; biking, woods, mountains, lakes, and rivers.
