NECI team wins gold at ACF Regional Culinary Knowledge Bowl

A team of five NECI students have demonstrated their culinary proficiency by taking first-place honors in the 2008 ACF Regional Culinary Knowledge Bowl. The competition was hosted by the American Culinary Federation at its 2008 Northeast Regional Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, on April 5-7.

The team of young ‘culinarians’ won with their answers to challenging questions on everything culinary, including nutrition, sanitation, and baking, during the jeopardy-style competition.

The NECI team will go on to compete for the national title against their winning regional counterparts at the 2008 ACF National Convention in Las Vegas, July 14-17. The team hopes to repeat the success of last year’s NECI team, who took first place in the National Culinary Knowledge Bowl.

This year’s NECI team includes Team Captain Rosalynn Kooker (Calif.), Nikki Trzeciak (Texas), Dawn Francis (La.), Bryan Andregg (Kansas), and Wee-Jin Chau (Singapore). Their coach is Chef David Coolidge.

You have everything you need here – jobs, time off, a beautiful, friendly community… it's the little things that make the biggest difference at NECI.”
