NECI Scholarship Fund

Where you learn by living it.

Small classes, hands-on learning and real life intensity. Our students work side by side with skilled and dedicated chef instructors in our celebrated teaching restaurants. For nearly 30 years that’s been New England Culinary Institute’s recipe for success.

Since 1980, NECI has grown from a first class of seven to nearly 4,000 graduates, and from one academic program to eight separate degree programs. Throughout the years, the support, advice, leadership and expertise of our alumni, parents and friends have been critical to our present strength and future growth.

The NECI Scholarship Fund is a Vermont non-profit corporation organized to provide scholarships for students who attend New England Culinary Institute. Nearly 80% of incoming students receive some kind of scholarship aid. NECI scholarships are awarded to motivated, deserving students who could not otherwise attend. There are two ways you can support the students at NECI:

  • Annual Fund – Donations can be made to the Annual Fund which are used to award scholarships during the year they are received.
  • Scholarship Endowment Fund – donations can be made to existing endowments or may be designated to set up a continuing scholarship endowment fund. The minimum amount to create a new endowment is $25,000. Income from the endowed funds is used to provide named scholarships each year.

By donating to the NECI Scholarship Fund you:

  • Provide NECI students with tuition assistance.
  • Strengthen NECI’s endowment for future generations of students.
  • Offer a student an opportunity to attain career and personal goals which might not otherwise have been within their reach.

Management of the Fund

The NECI Scholarship Fund is governed by a volunteer board of directors. The directors and officers of the Fund receive no compensation and all administrative services are donated or reimbursed by the New England Culinary Institute. As a result, 100 percent of the contributions received by the fund are used directly for scholarship aid.

The Board of Directors awards all scholarships based upon need, aptitude, prior experience and the student’s secondary school or post-secondary record. The greatest weight is given to financial need. All applications for scholarships are made through the Financial Aid Office at NECI. Students who successfully complete their first year of studies are eligible for continued support.
