2010 — 2011

Academic Excellence Scholarship

The academic excellence scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement in high school. The Academic Excellence Scholarship is only valid for one year following high school completion.
Criteria:

  • Acceptance to New England Culinary Institute.
  • 3.5+ Grade Point Average.*
  • Letter of recommendation from a high school teacher or guidance counselor.

*All awards made prior to the completion of high school are subject to GPA verification upon receiving final official transcript.
Amount: $6000 total award ($3000 per year for two years).
Number of Recipients: 10
Application Process: Please send transcript and letter of recommendation to New England Culinary Institute via fax, email, or mail indicating that you are applying for the Academic Excellence Scholarship.

Culinary Excellence Scholarship

The Culinary Excellence Scholarship is awarded to students who have participated in a high school level culinary program. The Culinary Excellence Scholarship is only valid for one year following high school completion.
Criteria:

  • Acceptance to New England Culinary Institute.
  • 3.0+ Grade Point Average.*
  • Participation in a culinary curriculum during high school.
  • Letter of recommendation from a high school teacher or guidance counselor.

*All awards made prior to the completion of high school are subject to GPA verification upon receiving final official transcript.
Amount: $5000 total award ($2500 per year for two years)
Number of Recipients: 20

New Endeavors Scholarship

The New Endeavors Scholarship is available to students who are interested in pursuing a career change after at least 5 years of full-time work in another field or profession.
Amount: $5000 total award ($2500 per year for two years)
Number of Recipients: 10
Application Process: Please send a resume and a letter describing why you are interested in pursuing a career in the culinary industry. Send your resume and letter via fax, email, or mail indicating that you are applying for the New Endeavors Scholarship.

Life Long Learner Scholarship

The Life Long Learner Scholarship is available to students who have already completed a Bachelor’s Degree or higher and are pursuing either a career change or exploring a passion in the culinary industry.
Amount: $5000 total award ($2500 per year for two years)
Number of Recipients: 10
Application Process: Please send copy of diploma or transcript and a letter describing why you have chosen to attend New England Culinary Institute via fax, email, or mail indicating that you are applying for the Life Long Learner Scholarship.

Academic Excellence, Culinary Excellence, Vermont Culinary Preparatory, New Endeavors, and Life Long Learner Scholarships can not be combined with one another.

Industry Professional Scholarship

The industry professional scholarship is awarded to accepted students who have full-time professional culinary industry experience.
Criteria:

  • 3 + years of full-time experience working in the hospitality industry.
  • Resume including employer contact information.
  • Letter of recommendation from an employer.

Amount: $5000 total award ($2500 per year for two years)
Number of Recipients: 20
Application Process: Please send resume and letter of recommendation to New England Culinary Institute via fax, email, or mail indicating that you are applying for the Industry Professional Scholarship.

Next Generation Scholarship

Alumni of New England Culinary Institute are able to recommend students for this one time award. Alumni referrals can be made online at NECIAlumni.edu/alumni_referral.html or by contacting Karen Nevin at karen.nevin@neci.edu

Early Commitment Scholarship

The Early Commitment Scholarship is automatically awarded to students who apply and are accepted to the program by the deadlines listed below. In addition, accepted students must make a deposit commitment to attend New England Culinary Institute and sign an enrollment agreement in order to be eligible. The Early Commitment Scholarship can not be transferred from one term to a later term for those who apply and wish to defer their admission to a later start date then originally intended.

New York and Vermont High School Seniors:

Consider the Dual Enrollment Scholarship Program. Take NECI's online Cooking Theory course for free while you're still in high school. Complete the course successfully and you earn three college-level credits. You also become eligible for a scholarship at NECI.

Vermont Culinary Preparatory Scholarship

The Vermont Culinary Preparatory Scholarship is available to Vermont students who have been recommended by their chef instructors to participate in an online course offered by New England Culinary Institute. Upon successful completion of high school and the online coursework, students will be awarded their scholarships.
Amount:
    July 2010 Term - $12,000 ($6,000 per year for two years)
    October 2010 Term - $6000 ($3,000 per year for two years)
Application Process: Students are selected to participate in this program by their Vermont Technical Program Chef Instructors.
The Vermont Culinary Preparatory Scholarship is not combinable with other New England Culinary Institute merit-based awards.

New York ProStart Quick Fire Scholarship

The New York Quick Fire Scholarship is available to New York High School students who have been recommended by their chef instructors to participate in an online course offered by New England Culinary Institute. Upon successful completion of high school and the online coursework, students will be awarded their scholarships.

    July 2010 Term - $12,000 ($6,000 per year for two years)
    October 2010 Term - $6000 ($3,000 per year for two years)
The New York Quick Fire and Vermont Culinary Preparatory Scholarships can not be combined with any other NECI Scholarship.

New England Culinary Institute Scholarships can not be combined with New England Culinary Institute National Student Organization Scholarships, including American Culinary Federation Competition Scholarships, DECA, ProStart, SkillsUSA, and C-CAP. NECI Grant and NECI Vermonter Grant (Vermont residents only)
New England Culinary Institute awards need-based institutional grants on a first-come first-served basis. To be considered for need-based grant, you must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Need-based grants are awarded based on a specific term start. If you are unable to start in your original enrollment period, your grant eligibility will be reevaluated and potentially adjusted. Grants can be reduced if additional financial aid or outside scholarships are awarded after the grant has been determined.

NECI Opportunity Loans

New England Culinary Institute awards need-based loans on a first-come first-served basis. To be considered for need-based NECI loans, you must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Need-based loans are awarded based on a specific term start. If you are unable to start in your original enrollment period, your NECI loan eligibility will be reevaluated and potentially adjusted. NECI loans can be reduced if additional financial aid or outside scholarships are awarded after the grant has been determined.

All funds awarded by New England Culinary Institute (scholarships, grants, and loans) are revoked if a student withdraws from the program at any time during a residency period for which aid has been awarded.

We regret that NECI online programs are not eligible for NECI Scholarships. Scholarships from other agencies may be available to online students.
