Vermont's mountainous terrain can make maps a bit misleading, and driving times can be quite longer than anticipated. For example, Middlebury looks likes a nice town to visit and stay in (it is!), and on the map it doesn’t look too far from Randolph. In reality, the drive between Randolph and Middlebury can take an hour an a half. Whereas Montpelier looks the same distance as Middlebury but is only a 35-minute drive.
