New England Culinary Institute has two campuses, one in our beautiful state capital of Montpelier and the other in scenic Essex, Vermont. Students have the unique opportunity to receive hands-on training in the free standing restaurant, retail and non-commercial operations of our Montpelier campus as well as the experience of a Four Diamond culinary resort and inn on our Essex campus.
The Associates Degree in Hospitality and Restaurant Management is offered on the Essex campus only. The Associates Degree in Baking and Pastry Arts is offered on the Montpelier campus only. The Certificate Program in Basic Cooking is offered in Essex; the Pastry and the Baking Certificates are offered in Montpelier only. Each student in our Culinary Arts program begins his or her first year on our Montpelier campus, and then moves to the scenic Inn at Essex for the second year.
In Montpelier, dorm rooms are available on-campus in the Hillcrest Building and Glover Hall, as well as in other houses and apartments within the community. These housing units consist of renovated duplexes, triplexes, apartment and residence halls located within a one-and-a-half-mile radius of the school. In Essex, living quarters are designed as apartments housing three to six students; each student has a private room. All housing units have a common/living area and a bathroom that students share. Most are equipped with a kitchen. Local phone service is provided in the common area. Most dorms are wired for cable and phone/internet and there are coin laundry facilities on-site.
All units are fully furnished. A typical room contains one twin bed and mattress, a dresser, a desk, a chair and blinds. Students are expected to provide their own non-halogen lamps, portable bookshelves, bedding, drapes, dishes, cookware, ironing boards and iron.
