Baking and Pastry Arts

The New England Culinary Institute student studying Baking and Pastry Arts is as much artist as technician. You’ll learn to create one-of-a-kind specialties that can be appreciated by the most discriminating consumer. But you won’t be working in just any kitchen. You’ll be preparing sumptuous desserts and other baked goods in our award winning retail outlets from the very first day of class. Unlike other cooking schools, you’ll be working alongside Chef Instructors in groups where the student to teacher ratio is only 10:1. With this kind of individualized attention, you’ll develop the dexterity, stamina, teamwork and timing necessary to meet the demands of a stressful production environment.

Schedule a tour today at our beautiful Montpelier and Essex campuses and talk to instructors and students. Discover how our comprehensive educational model prepares you to perform effectively in any food service operation.

"Many express concern that they don’t have industry experience. I say that enthusiasm and positive attitude are the best attributes they can bring to NECI.”

"I meet and work with a lot of great people, but there’s something different about graduates from New England Culinary Institute. It’s their work ethic and attention to detail. You just don’t find it everywhere.”

-Duff Goldman, host of the Food Network's Ace of Cakes.

My two passions are food and the outdoors. The fact that NECI is in a beautiful place like Vermont was simply an added bonus.”
